We are honored to partner with Island Bee Project (IBP) since 2021, when they brought a couple of hives to our property on a dark November evening and we fell in love with the keepers and their 'girls.' Here's a little bit about them:
Island Bee Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to spread pollinator awareness through public programming and access to local urban apiaries. This includes educational group sessions, hands-on workshops and live experiences on site to maximize the circular value of an apiary while showcasing our vision to preserve urban honeybees.Their grand vision is to revitalize communities with mindfulness and gratitude towards nature and our symbiotic relationship to the world around us by supporting urban pollinator habitats. At Moore Jackson, IBP conducts workshops for both school field trips and open garden days.
We are also super grateful to Astoria Woodworkers Collective for building our amazing honeycomb enclosure for the beehives to create a visual and physical barrier.
